The Overview of the Prevalent Forms of Punishment and Torture in the Light of Islamic Teachings

Abstract

The treatment of those who have been arrested on the basis of the suspicions and doubt in reference to research and investigation is comprehensible. Every kind of torture is adopted to attain the truth. The afflictions that are often given are usually more than the punishment of crime. In contemporary times, in addition to police investigation centers, there are many other private places, which include regular torture cells. During investigation most of the time prisoner’s confessions are taken forcefully in these cells. The question is that whether the confession of a criminal who is ‘’so-called’’ guilty under the violence-based investigation procedure is really acknowledged? Or will the accused confess his deception to avoid the torture? This study examines the new techniques and methods of investigation in the light of Islamic teachings.
