The positive trend of religious tolerance developed significantly during the Mughal period.Noor-ud-Din Jahangir maintained permission to build temples in view of religious freedom, so Veer Singh built new temples in Mathura and Bandila. Hindus and Muslims lived in the Jahangiri era with great satisfaction and both had equal opportunities in military and non-military employment. Jahangir gave non-Muslims equal government positions. Jahangir during his reign took steps for the development of civilization. Jahangir provided a conducive environment for the scholars to promote and disseminate Islamic knowledge. Jahangir's good work was to establish the chain of justice which is known as Adil Jahangiri. Jahangir was very keen on the art of painting. Painting developed a lot during his time. He built many gardens and buildings in Kashmir which are still in existence today. He also built many magnificent buildings in the forts of Lahore and Agra. Like Babar, Jahangir also wrote his own autobiography, Tazak Jahangiri,. A policy of tolerance with Non-.Muslims was adopted in period of Jhangir. Jahangir, like his father, was kind to non-.Muslims. He had ordered throughout the empire that no Muslim should forcibly convert any non-.Muslims to Islam. He allowed non-Muslims to build their own places of worship.
