Abstract

Women are considered to be the weakest and lowest class of society, human history shows that in the different cultures and religions, women are not treated fairly, which is still seen in many cultures. In the article below, the rights of women are presented comparatively and analytically in the light of Hindu and Islamic system of inheritance. According to Hindu law, a woman is given the right of inheritance but the unmarried daughter is entitled to inheritance while the married daughter is deprived of the right of inheritance, but the son of the married daughter becomes the inheritor in the absence of any other inheritors. Grand daughter has right of inheritance, but is deprived of inheritance as a mother, wives and sisters are also remain deprived from inheritance. Islamic law gave rights of inheritance to women whether she is a mother, wife or a daughter. It means a woman inherits wealth from her husband's wealth, brother's wealth, father's wealth and son's wealth. A woman collects wealth from multiple sides. In Islam, woman is not held financially responsible for providing other members of her family. Rather, man is obliged to provide for her in all household, therefore, Islam gives women their rights perfectly than any other religion.
