Consonantal Letters in the Qur`an: A Research Analysis of Their Semantic Significance and Exegetical Implications

Normally, two types of letters are described. One type is called the meaningful letters and the other is the constituent letters. The study of the meaningful letters is a significant aspect among other aspects of the Arabic language. Due to the vital importance of meaningful letters, the scholars of the Syntax, the Quranic studies and Islamic jurisprudence gave a considerable share in their publications in the preliminary period. The meaningful letters are used for different meanings according to the context through which new meanings of the text are revealed. The writers of the preliminary period of the Quranic studies considering the importance of the meaningful letters decided obligatory the acquaintance with their knowledge (Along with the Quranic Studies, The Studies of Hadieth, Islamic Jurisprudence, Nullfier and Nullified and The Arabic Language ) and their appropriate use at suitable place.So that the interpretation of the Quran may be done by keeping in view the discipline of the Holy Quran.One of the most important kind of meaningful letters is prepositions. The knowledge of the prepositions is much important for the precise comprehension of the interpretation of the Holy Quran.So that precise meaning must be derived and errors may be omitted by knowing the use of the prepositions in accordance within their context. The objective of this research is to know the prepositions and to recognize their effects on the translation and interpretation.
