This research explores the rehabilitation of individuals suffering from addiction through the lens of Islamic teachings, integrating Qur’anic guidance, Prophetic traditions, and classical juristic insights with contemporary rehabilitation approaches. Addiction, whether in the form of alcohol, opium, or modern narcotics, has historically been viewed in Islam not only as a personal weakness but also as a threat to social order, family integrity, and collective morality. The Qur’an categorically prohibits intoxicants, emphasizing their destructive effects on intellect, faith, and social harmony. Similarly, the Prophetic traditions condemn all forms of intoxicants, framing them as gateways to moral and legal transgressions. The study highlights the multifaceted harms of addiction at both individual and societal levels, ranging from severe physical and mental health consequences to family disintegration, economic decline, and criminal activities. Against this backdrop, Islamic teachings propose a holistic framework for rehabilitation, grounded in spiritual purification, ethical reformation, and social reintegration. Practices such as prayer, Qur’anic recitation, dhikr, and reliance on patience and steadfastness are emphasized as spiritual therapies. Moreover, mosques, madrasas, and Sufi institutions historically served as centers of moral guidance, providing communal support for recovery. The research further analyzes the role of the state in implementing preventive policies, enforcing laws through hudud and ta‘zīr, and establishing rehabilitation centers in accordance with Islamic welfare principles. Finally, the study argues for integrating modern scientific methods of rehabilitation—such as counseling and psychological therapies—with spiritual and ethical teachings of Islam, ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable path toward recovery. This integrated approach positions Islamic guidance as both timeless and practically applicable in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of contemporary society.Downloads
