Abstract

Right after the emergence of Islam, there have been anti-Islamic activists around the globe but this phenomenon turns to be formal and organized particularly in the hands of Orientalists who systematically and academically commenced a movement against Islam in order to prove it a fighting force and a barbaric troop more than a religion or a civilization. The history is full of such monger makers who negatively delineated the different aspects of the life of Muhammad (SAW). They portrayed him as a fanatic warrior and a neurotic one. The only objective of such pseudo-scholarly writings of the Orientalists is to degrade him. Reynold Alleyne Nicholson is an important critic among the Orientalists who posed biased and prejudiced opinions against Islam and the Prophet (SAW). He is considered as a prominent exponent of anti-Islamic stance. He is one of the disciples of E. G. Brown and the mentor of J. A. Arberry and Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He translated many books of Muslim scholars. His main interest is in Muslim history and mysticism. This article is meant to expose how he distorts, defaces and manipulates the events from the Islamic history in general and from the seerat of Muhammad (SAW) in particular.
