In social context violence may be defined as the illegal employment of methods of physical coercion for personal or group ends. It must be distinguished from force or power, which is purely physical concept having direction and intensity. Violence again women, is an inherent social problem which every women is likely to face, whether she lives in a developing country or among a developed nation. The form and nature may however vary in both the cases from time to time. Violence in Pakistani society as well, is an open secret now. In general, the women are not only deprived of their basic rights but also they are humiliated to the extent, that is against honour, dignity and gender identity. Islam, ensuring human dignity and equal opportunity for both the genders, eradicates this social evil through taming the animal self of human being. An Islamic society is believed to evolve and impose laws to safeguard morals and ethics, ensuring protection of women folk against any act of lawlessness and violence. The major cause of all these social evils is the ignorance of understanding of the basic teachings of Islam.
