Abstract

The beginning of the 19th century was a period of political and intellectual decline in the Muslim world. In addition, anti-religious movements presented the interpretive structure of Islam in such a way that on the one hand, simple-minded people began to be influenced by them, while on the other hand, anti-Islamic forces openly fought. In such a situation, some writers have tried to bring the beliefs of Islam according to science. It was in this context that a modern edition of the so-called modern interpretation of Islam was developed, which has the accordance with the views of European scholars but differed radically from the original sources of Islam. This process was carried in different angles. Revival of religion means to eradicate the additional things and theories and to bring religion in original shape. In this article, it is narrated that what is the meaning of renewal of religion and what are its limitations. It is also described briefly that what is the significance of this renewal in the present era.
