Abstract

Being proactive means taking responsibility for life, going beyond action accordingly. Moreover, it lies in accepting the fact that there are various things in our life we cannot do anything about. But is a well-established myth that this proactive approach towards life originated in West. This great life lesson or skill is revealed by Western scholars specially by Dr. Stephen Covey. Unfortunately, we Muslims are also of the same view and are grateful to western scholars. Infact Islamic concept of proactivity is for better than the Western one. The prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. is the role model for an individual to take responsibility in all spheres of life. It has been discussed in this paper in the light of Qur'an and Sunnah that Islam taught its followers to be proactive and not reactive. So, we do not need to borrow this concept or skill from West.
