Abstract

The Abyssinian Migration that was caused by the unending atrocities of Makkan polytheistshas been interpreted by the orientalists as Prophet's (P.B.U.H.) scheme of attaining political and military power. Though divergent theories have been propounded by the Orientalists in this regard but all of them agree that the motives and causes of Abyssinian migration were not confined to seeking a refuge from Makkan violence. Some of them consider it a scheme of persuading Negus to attack Makkah, some regard it as a proof that Hazrat Muhammad(P.B.U.H.) had political ambitions from the very beginning of his mission, while others explain it as a temporary solution of the danger of Muslims' apostasy. In the following research paper an attempt has been made to present an overview and brief analysis of the material interpretations of Abyssinian Migration.
