Abstract

Imam Khattabi was an excellent Muhaddis as well as wellknown faqeeh and adeeb. He has not only interpreted the Ahadith in his M`aa­lim us Sunan but also pointed out the authenticity and weakness of the Ahadith on many places. He has adopted the same standard for the cancellation and acceptance of the Ahadith that was adopted by other Muhaddiseen. The pattern of research he followed was the same as adopted by his precontemporary writers in this field. some of the works is given as under: Adalat e Ruwaat (Good character of all its narrators), Zabt (Good memory), ittes­al e sanad (Continuous isnaad from begining to end), adme shzooz (free from any oddness in its isnaad or text) and adme illat (free from faults in its isnaad and text). In addition to the author 's research, he has found him fully agreed to the Mohadiseen e kiraam in his research.
