Abstract
Polytheism, heathenism and idolatry had prevailed throughout the Arabian Peninsula in the pre Islamic period, however, there were some people wha, during the period of Jahiliyvah, were seen to have rejected idolatry and retamed some or all of the tenets of the religion of Abraham which was "submission to God in its yurest form. They are called "hunaja" in the history of Islam. One of the most prominent of these hunafa' wat Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail - an orator, versatile poet, staunch preacher of monotheism, and the great leader of the hunafaa of his time. Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail is a remarkable figure in the history of Islam and has a story of great struggle in search of truth and pure faith. Aside from being a monotheist before the arrival of Islam, he wwed to guide people to what pleased Allah based on intuition and fitrah Inatural disposition). This article highlights the effects of monotheism on his thought and traces the various dimensions of his faith in Allah Almighty and tenets of Prophet Ibrahim in the light of his poetry
